Insurance Brokers Code of Practice

Since 1982, the National Insurance Brokers Association of Australia (NIBA) has been a driving force for change in the Australian insurance broking industry.

As the voice for insurance brokers in Australia and the body responsible for maintaining integrity within the industry, NIBA has developed the Insurance Brokers Code of Practice. All NIBA members are bound by the terms of the Code and other parties or entities can subscribe to the Code standards.

The current code was introduced in 2006 and has recently been revised to comply with and reflect changes that have occurred within our industry.

The Code is administered for NIBA by the Financial Ombudsman Service Limited (FOS)There is also an independent Code Compliance Committee that monitors Code compliance and oversees the administration of the Code.

If you consider there has been a breach of the Code, you may wish to contact the FOS to lodge a complaint.
